We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician who enjoys working directly on the production floor, troubleshooting equipment, improving processes, and helping production teams succeed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports all facets of the production floor related to the manufacturing of electronic assemblies. This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production systems to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

This position works closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to investigate and resolve manufacturing challenges, support continuous improvement initiatives, implement process enhancements, reduce downtime, and ensure customer expectations are met while maintaining safety, quality, and operational excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Investigate and resolve process-related issues in support of daily manufacturing operations.

  • Provide technical assistance to production associates, including interpretation of assembly documentation and production standards.

  • Analyze defect data to assist in root cause investigations and corrective actions.

  • Document experiments, process changes, equipment updates, and troubleshooting activities according to established standards.

Equipment & Automation Support

  • Program, set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment throughout the facility.

  • Support and optimize a variety of manufacturing technologies, including:

    • Selective Solder
    • Wave Solder
    • Robotic Soldering
    • 3D Printing
    • X-Ray Inspection
    • De-paneling Equipment
    • Conformal Coating Systems
    • Epoxy and Potting Equipment
    • Through-Hole Insertion Processes
    • Test Equipment
    • Prototype Manufacturing Equipment
    • Surface Mount
  • Design, fabricate, modify, and implement tooling and fixtures used in production operations.

  • Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Partner with production and quality teams to improve equipment reliability, throughput, and product quality.

  • Flex work hours when necessary to support equipment operation across all shifts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in process improvement, cost reduction, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity.

  • Assist in evaluating manufacturing processes and recommending improvements.

  • Continuously review processes and equipment to ensure safe, efficient plant operations.

  • Identify and address safety and OSHA-related concerns.

Training & Technical Support

  • Assist in training associates on manufacturing processes, machine operation, tools, and equipment to maintain process controls.

  • Serve as a technical resource for production teams and cross-functional departments.

  • Collaborate with vendors, customers, maintenance personnel, and internal departments to support manufacturing objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in safety and health programs as required.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Work overtime when needed to support customer and operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, process support, automation, electronics manufacturing, equipment support, or a related technical field.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment and production processes.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with associates, customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in electronic manufacturing, PCB assembly, or contract manufacturing environments.

  • Experience working with automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience with selective solder, wave solder, robotic soldering, X-ray inspection, conformal coating, de-paneling equipment, test systems, or similar manufacturing technologies.

  • Experience with CAD software.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.

  • Technical degree, military technical training, apprenticeship, journeyman certification, IPC certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
  • Distinguish and identify colors.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing odors.
  • Ability to move throughout office and production environments.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position works in both office and manufacturing production environments and requires regular interaction with production equipment, tooling, and manufacturing personnel.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is accountable for supporting manufacturing operations through effective troubleshooting, equipment support, process improvements, and technical expertise. This role is responsible for helping maintain efficient production processes, reducing downtime, supporting quality objectives, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Success in this position requires strong technical aptitude, sound judgment, effective decision-making, and the ability to prioritize work that has the greatest impact on production performance and customer satisfaction.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is also accountable for promoting safe work practices, complying with company policies and procedures, and contributing positively to the overall success of the ESI team.

SUPERVISION

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to internal teams and customers.
